Credit Karma — Instagram & TikTok Reels
Credit Karma
Animation + Design: Mark Aguilar
Credit Karma wanted short-form content that felt native to social and sparked conversation around money.
I was tasked with setting the visual style and animating a series of reels built around a faux call-in podcast—listeners “phone in” with questions about love + finance and “financial advice from your dad.” Designed for quick consumption, the reels blend snappy type, brand-aligned graphics, and playful motion.
A cohesive series that resonated on Instagram and TikTok and drove strong engagement.
The visual style was intentionally kept lo-fi and minimal, making the reels feel casual, accessible, and easy to animate at scale. Simple line drawings paired with pops of color and clean motion gave the faux-podcast format a playful, handmade quality—lightweight enough for quick production, but distinctive enough to stand out in the feed.
The characters were designed in a loose, sketchy style to match the lo-fi aesthetic of the reels. Each design leans into quick, exaggerated features—big glasses, bold outfits, or expressive posture—that make them instantly readable in short-form content. The simplified line work not only kept production light and efficient, but also reinforced the playful, tongue-in-cheek tone of the faux-podcast series.
